About the Firm

Christopher Hewitt is a licensed attorney by the Supreme court of California and is admitted in all the Federal Districts. California has four separate districts that require licensing before one can practice in that district. He has been actively practicing bankruptcy and debt negotiations since 2005 and is well versed with the BAPCPA changes to the bankruptcy code starting in 2005.

Mr. Hewitt is a graduate cum laude of University of Oregon in Eugene, OR where he received a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and focused his studies on Latin American Economic Development. He learned Spanish while living and working in South and Central America for over one year during his studies. He received a J.D. from Golden Gate University in San Francisco where he graduated with high rankings and passed the California Bar on the first try after having graduated a semester early. He is a member of NACBA (National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys) and attends many of their continuing legal education seminars to stay current with the bankruptcy laws.

On the personal side he has three children and has been fortunate enough to do much of his work virtually so that he has a work life balance while also allowing him to be available to clients at night. He is able to get most of the paper work needed to file a petition through emails, faxes, scanners and is available at night to go over petitions before they are filed electronically with the courts. He shows up personally at the one bankruptcy hearing that is necessary in a chapter 7 and is always available to answer questions whenever clients need him.

One of his main intentions for starting a bankruptcy practice is to help people regain their financial stability and get a fresh start. As someone who has had to live with high amounts of debt and the stress that it brings, he is very aware of the importance of his role as an advocate in consumer bankruptcy and finds peace and purpose knowing the benefits that he provides to his clients and in effect society as a whole.
